Back at the end of March, Best Buy announced that it would be closing 50 U.S. stores. Yesterday, a press release identified all of these stores. While two of the fifty stores closed in February (Kansas City, MO – Metro North and Scottsdale, AZ – Shea), the remaining locations are expected to permanently close their doors by May 12, 2012. California (7), Illinois (6), and Minnesota (6) were the hardest hit by the closures.
In Tennessee, only one store, the Hickory Hollow location in Antioch, is on the list. That leaves six stores in the state. Conducting a search for the nearest store with an Antioch zip code reveals that the Brentwood location is the closest Best Buy to the 37013 zip code. It is about 14 miles away from the Antioch location, but close to other shopping opportunities, which may help justify the extra distance for consumers.
