At CES today, January 8, Walmart and Straight Talk announced that customers will be able to purchase the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 on Straight Talk’s $45 no contract, unlimited talk, text, and data plan. This offer will be available at more than 2,000 Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com starting January 11.
If you stopped by the Best Buy web page today, December 10, you will have noticed a discount on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S. Best Buy is offering $50 off any new iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S with a new two-year contract.
This price reduction will lower your initial costs for the iPhone 5 to $149.99 on the 16 GB model, $249.99 for the 32 GB model, and $349 for the 64 GB model. The iPhone 4S with 16 GB of memory will cost a consumer $49.99 with a new two-year agreement. These are the lowest prices for the new iPhone 5 yet.
The A6 chip Apple has used in the iPhone 5 was designed specifically for this device and includes a custom layout from Apple itself. Rather than licensing the technology of a standard dual core ARM chip, Apple manually laid out significant parts of the chip. Today, September 21, the iPhone 5 became available in stores. Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint stores were open early today to handle the lines of customers who attempted to get their own new device.
Beginning at 8 a.m. local time, stores opened as the iPhone 5 became available for purchased. While lines at the carrier stores seemed manageable around the 7 a.m. mark, the lines were longer at the Apple stores here in Nashville. From the dress of those at the beginning of the outside lines, some may have arrived at the stores the night before.
September 21, Verizon, along with the other cellular carriers began carrying the iPhone 5 in stores. Verizon opened early, provided conversation, and stocked plenty of accessories for the new 4G LTE iPhone 5.
Within the Verizon stores in the Nashville area, individuals were available for the early crowds and those who arrived later to pick up their iPhone 5. Each customer was greeted and directed to a sales person who could help them with their purchase.Read more

Today, September 12, Apple announced their newest iPhone, the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 will be available in stores beginning September 21. For customers of AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint, pre-orders will be available starting Friday, September 14.
Apple has shared that the iPhone 5 is thinner, faster, and has a longer lasting battery. While the “all-new 7.6 mm anodized aluminum body” is thinner and lighter than the previous version, it has a larger, 4-inch Retina screen.
