Verizon offers suggestions for summer technology fun


If you are a technology enthusiast and are looking for new gadgets for your backyard barbecue or outdoor events, Verizon has a few suggestions over on one of their YouTube channels. Check out the video and stop by their site or stores for more information.

One of the devices shared is the iGrill, Bluetooth meat thermometer. You can download an app from iTunes or GooglePlay that connects directly to the device. According to the details on Verizon’s site, you can monitor your food, the grill temperature, and more from up to 200 feet away. The app will even alert you when your food should be ready to eat.

Samsung beats out Nokia as the largest manufacturer of cellphones

According to a press release from iSuppli yesterday, Samsung has overtaken Nokia as the largest manufacturer of cellphones. Samsung shipped 92 million handsets worldwide last quarter, while Nokia recorded only 83 million cellphones shipped.

This lead change halted a 14-year run by Nokia who took over the top spot from Motorola back in 1998. iSuppli’s report shows Samsung actually experienced a 13% decrease in shipments between Q4 2011 and Q1 2012. Nokia, however, suffered a 27% decrease in the same timeframe.
