In a news release today, Verizon announced the expansion of their Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Tennessee and beyond. This expansion will occur Thursday, April 19thand help Verizon expand their LTE coverage to 2/3 of the U.S. They are not stopping there. In fact, by the end of 2012, Verizon is anticipating LTE to be available in over 400 markets and cover over 260 million people in the U.S. This will be an increase to their 2011 numbers of 200 million people covered.
This should be positive news to the residents where the expansion will occur. Connection speeds are said to be 10 times faster than Verizon’s 3G network. Along with the increase speeds, enhanced wireless reception can be experienced inside buildings where coverage can sometimes get lost or be non-existent.
