The Nokia Lumia 1520 is fast and large

So, you like the look and feel of Windows Phone 8. You like the style of a Nokia device. And, you like a mix between a tablet and a phone. You want the one device to take care of all your mobile needs. The Nokia Lumia 1520 may be the phone for you.

The size of the device is what strikes users first. The Nokia Lumia 1520 has a 6-inch 1080p screen. Pictures, movies, and web pages looked great on this device. Whether you are outside or in, the Nokia Lumia 1520 seems to deliver good and consistent quality. The screen is set to automatically adjust to brightness which made using the device comfortable.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is light considering its size, coming in at 7.26 ounces. Even with the larger screen, the 3400mAh battery lasted all day for normal tasks of checking email, browsing the web, accessing SkyDrive, and taking pictures. Even with Bluetooth and NFC turned on, the charged seemed to last the day.

Nokia phones usually have great cameras on them these days. The Nokia Lumia 1520 carries over this tradition. Pictures shot with the Nokia camera app seemed to provide an easier and quicker-shot experience than using the Windows app. However, both took good pictures. With many settings, you are able to get the best picture possible with the 20-megapixel camera.

Watching videos from an added microSD card on the Nokia Lumia 1520 provided a very good experience. It was able to take MP4, MOV, AVI, and WMV files on the microSD card without any challenges. Videos looked crisp and clear on the large screen. Netflix streaming also did not disappoint. The picture was bright and the phone did not stutter during playback using any of these methods or file types.

Playing audio through the Nokia Lumia 1520’s speaker or an attached headset was very good. When set to close to the loudest volume, the sound was still clear from the speaker on the back of the 1520. Playing audio from Pandora, music stored on a microsSD card, or from videos was a pleasant experience.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a pretty decent phone as well. While it didn’t seem to reduce as much noise as the Lumia 1020, calls were still clear in an office building and driving from one side of Nashville to the other. AT&T’s network did well through this test. Even on a Bluetooth headset, sound and conversation were pretty clear.

With a very large screen size, the Nokia Lumia 1520 may not be for everyone. However, it is a device that operates better than some of the larger Android devices out there with similar screen real estate. Windows Phone has come a long way and is worth considering. Stop by your local AT&T store to check out the Nokia Lumia 1520 , which sells for $199.99 with a new two-year contract.
